Spring 77 is a good way to start off a new series i guess. The thing that pisses me off immensely about this series is that its going to be limited edition. 12,000 copies of each release. thats it. Making 12000 people happy and pissing off everyone else for making these shows now unavailable.

Yep. It seems rhino is really kicking GD into their mode. Limited editions, bonuses of various kinds and subscriptions. Its all about sales. I think this music is so important that they should try to make these things unlimited. At least they ended up doing that with the Euro 72 release. I think a limited box set is cool as long as the music is made available for all, as that is what its really about.

And yes 77 is always a good place to start. But I really feel that there are great shows that need releasing due almost solely to being the superior copy. There is an overwhelmingly large amount of late 70s out there. We need more late 60s and early 70s where remastering from the vault copy would really make more of something great. I mean why are there no fall 68 shows released? Maybe my mind is fooling me, but I can think of nothing from this great period thats been an official release.

A strong show to release imo, but certainly would not be my first choice. I definitely agree about the lopsidedness of official releases. So far, to my knowledge, from 1977 there have been 8 total official releases including the new Dave's Pick. From 1968 there have been 4. And aside from a few single tracks, there have NEVER been official releases from 1967 or 1966.

I wish everyone loved these years as much as me and some others around here - if it were up to us 1977 would never see the light of day again ;0)

Why are they being so cagey about when the a la carte purchasing for 5/25/77 is available?

Did I miss something? I would like to get the show w/out doing the $100 for the whole subscription deal.

anyone? Bueller?
